FabFit-Fly

Before I start, I just have to apologize for the corny title. Also, please don’t sue me FabFitFun.

It’s officially my third year in this fly career (sorry, the corny terms won’t stop coming out like word vomit). In these past three years I’ve seen some changes within myself, not only internally, but externally too. For starters, I think I have an immune system as strong as Wolverine’s. I also probably carry every possible germ imaginable. (Don’t worry, I’m not contagious). Most noticeably though, would be my physical health. I’m 25 years old and can proudly state that I’ve maintained my weight since college, which is a milestone in flight attendant world. You see, there’s a term we call “first year 30” (similar to freshman 15, but WORSE) where flight attendants are prone to gaining up to 30 lbs their first year of flying. How can you not, when you’re stuck in a metal tube in the sky for hours with unlimited snacks and leftover desserts from first class. (Damn you Ben&Jerry’s ice cream and exquisite cheese plates!)

I am here to tell you guys, it’s possible to maintain your weight, live a healthy lifestyle AND still enjoy those spicy margaritas and tacos at your favorite Cancun layover (or nearest Taco Tuesday restaurant). I’m not a nutritionist, but I’ve researched enough foods to know which ones are best for my body, especially with a hectic schedule. Below I’ll list a few things that have helped me maintain my weight and live a healthy, nomadic lifestyle. (Disclaimer: I don’t believe in diets or extreme weight loss tricks)

CLASSPASS

This is probably the most stable fitness app I’ve ever used. It gives me the freedom to explore different work out classes anywhere in the U.S. so I can still get my Pilates on even on a Milwaukee layover. (I’ve never actually been to Milwaukee. Just trying to prove a point that this app is accessible anywhere.) How it works is you can sign up for a wide variety of classes such as boxing, yoga, barre and MORE! No gym membership needed. Best part of all is if you want to try it out for free your first month, just click on this link: Get $40 off your first month of ClassPass (I’m in no way affiliated with ClassPass, just trying to get more people on board so I have more friends to work out with)

MEAL PREP

The only way to stop myself from eating everything in sight on a plane, is to bring my own food. I don’t consider myself a meal prep guru or anything because in all honesty, I only eat foods that taste good and I feel like most meal preps are bland. Well, I’m here to tell you they don’t have to be! I make sure to cook up something delicious and “healthy” every Sunday night so I can be set for my work week. This topic could be a blog on it’s own.. so I think I’ll save that for another time. I’ll be sure to include recipe examples and tingz. I will share this food blog I’ve been loving though, Cookie and Kate. I get inspo from her vegetarian recipes and add a little Mexican spice to it.

INTERMITTENT FASTING

Once again, I’m not a nutritionist, but this is something that I’ve been experimenting with since October 2017 and it has worked for me. To sum up what it is, it’s basically an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting. I typically eat within an 8 hour period each day and it varies, depending on the time zone I’m in. Oddly enough, I find it fun to complete challenges such as these. It keeps me motivated, focused and I get to reap from the benefits. If you’d like to read more about it check out this article: 10 Health Benefits of Intermittent Fasting

WORK OUT

Now I know this one is a given, but for those of you who feel intimidated by the gym or the extra-creepy meat heads who won’t stop starring, know that you are not alone. I, too, started off feeling this way. I had no idea where to start, but all I knew is I wanted to grow stronger inside and out. If you’ve never picked up a dumbbell in your life, I recommend reading this article I read on BodyBuilding.com when I first started to work out. I have to give Jamie Eason credit because I learned a lot of work outs/techniques through her LivFit program. I don’t follow it anymore, but it did give me the knowledge I needed to start. LivFit 12 Week Trainer Best part of all is it’s free, contains step by step work out videos and a simple meal plan.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading about how I stay fit in this fly career and remember to enjoy your fitness journey. If you guys follow me on Instagram @MrsSunBunz then you know I like to eat good food on my weekly date nights with the bf, so you see it’s possible to live a healthy lifestyle and still enjoy living. That’s the most important part. Enjoy living. xx
