If you’re visiting Puerto Rico and trying to figure out which cities to visit while here, be sure to add Rincon to your list! My husband and I spent time in this quaint little town during Christmas and we had the most relaxing getaway. We stayed in a perfect Airbnb that had the most stunning views (I’ll be sure to include the listing below). I’ll also mention where we ate so you know where to make reservations ahead of time. We were lucky enough to have two friends living on this side of the island so they made sight seeing seamless and gave us their best recommendations. So here I am passing them down to you.
WHERE WE STAYED:
We found the cutest little Airbnb that was nestled in the mountains of Rincon, yet close enough to get to town within 5 minutes. The pictures are exactly how it looks in person. The victorian style was very elegant and made it feel like a romantic getaway. Not to mention the plunge pool. We had a private one inside of our airbnb and a public one right outside down a couple of steps. Luckily, we were the only ones there so my husband and I had a little photoshoot. Now, don’t expect for there to be strong water pressure from the shower or working wifi at all times, but this ensured that we stayed exploring during our stay. This place was also dog friendly, which is always a plus for this dog mama.
WHAT WE DID:
The first restaurant we ate at, thanks to our friends, had one of the best views in all of Rincon (in my opinion), La Copa Llena. You eat right next to the water while sipping some delicious house cocktails. The food was also delicious and memorable. The peach burrata with balsamic glaze and the fish curry were both very tasty! You can just call in to make a reservation ahead of time, which I recommend because this place fills up!
After dinner we went to a few bars located in the Rincon city center plaza. La Marketa Ricon was our first stop and was probably one of my favorites because there were artisan vendors selling some cute stuff as well as a live band playing reggae music (my jams). We then walked over a block or two and made our way into Blondie’s Bar. Don’t let the small size of this space scare you away because the drinks are worth it! Also, you HAVE to leave a dollar bill on the wall with writing on it. You’ll know what I mean once you see for yourself. We ended the night at The Beach House and it was so much fun that I didn’t even record a single thing or take any pictures. We were just living in the moment, enjoying our drinks with good company and live DJ.
My favorite place for lunch (and probably the healthiest hangover cure) is Sana Farm to Table. I’m tagging the Instagram links for most of the places we went to because Google doesn’t always reflect their working hours. I always recommend looking them up on Instagram and finding out that way. They usually always post updates/hours on there. Here, we had the best poke bowl I’ve had in this whole island. They also had many vegetarian/vegan options for this healthy husband of mine. He ordered the vegan burger and was very satisfied.

After a delicious lunch, we decided to walk off our food bellies by heading over to Playa Maria and walked alongside the beach and watched some surfers in action. The waves were really high so I wouldn’t recommend going for a swim unless you’re a strong swimmer. While walking, we came across this cute swing where we took pics and boomies. (Is boomies still a thing?)
After a nice long walk, we decided to head back and enjoy the breathtaking plunge pool back at our Airbnb.

We hung out here until we rebuilt our appetite then headed over to Surf Pizza Wagon for some delicious, freshly made pizza slices. We decided to carpe diem and seize the day by enjoying our pizza slices in front of the Punta Higuera Lighthouse and watched an amazing sunset. There was also a cute little bar here called Ola Sunset Cafe where we enjoyed some oversized passion fruit (aka parcha) mojitos for only $10 each. I tried to take a picture of them, but they were so big I couldn’t even hold one with my hand.

We ended our evening by having dinner at Estela, but sadly it wasn’t our favorite place. We ordered the red snapper and it was lacking flavor, so I recommend ordering something else. The almond cake also didn’t taste like almonds at all. I still recommend checking this restaurant out only because the chef was SO sweet and ended up gifting us a bottle of hot sauce when we asked for some for the fish. Honestly, we’ll probably come back and just order different foods just to continue supporting such a wonderful small business.
The next day was Christmas and we had plans with friends back home, but it worked out perfectly because everything was closed this day in Rincon. This short trip was just a little intro to our future adventure in Rincon, so stay tuned for more!
