I’m currently on my 8th year as a flight attendant and honestly what started as a “just 1 year” thing has become something I can’t imagine my life without. It’s true what the senior mamas say, “this job gets better with time.” Last year, I happened to get every single holiday off. I actually had so much time off in December that I panicked a little because dog mama still has bills to pay. LOL. A close friend of mine, and co worker, happened to also have the holidays off in December and asked me if I would be open to picking up a work trip with her. We came up with this great idea of picking up a Lima trip out of Atlanta (she’s based in Seattle and I’m in Los Angeles) and we thought it would be cute to bring our husbands along for the ride. Airplane ride, that is. For those wondering, flight attendants (in my airline, at least) have the ability to give their work trips away and pick some up from other airports as well, which is what we did. Also, our husbands are our travel companions and they get the same flight benefits that we do.
NIGHT CAP
After working a 6.5 hour flight, the only thing to check off our agendas for the night was to have a well deserved pisco sour. No one has been to Lima before so having our first pisco sour was a must! We ended up at Mi Tercer Lugar, which was one of the few places that still served food at 11pm. Funny enough, the pisco sour reminded me a lot of my favorite drink, the margrita, so I was pleasantly satisfied with the few rounds we had. We also enjoyed some wings and other snacks, but the best part of all was the company.
LUNCH
Since it was Christmas Eve, a lot of places were either closed or closed early so I made sure to do my research and booked this lunch spot in advance. Cala. I’m linking the restaurant for anyone who would like to visit and make a reservation. This restaurant had one of the most beautiful views of the coastal waters, in my opinion, and the ceviche did not disappoint. We ordered the seafood tower, the abnormally large oysters, along with some uni. All are highly recommended. This place was rated three $$$, but it seemed like normal LA prices to us. We spent around $50usd per person and we had 5 people total in our group. Here is a clip below of the beautiful views from Cala:
LIMA THINGS
After lunch, I had to take everyone to a spot that ALL the flight attendants rave about for beauty treatments. This secret that I’m about to reveal is a spa called Toque X. Now don’t expect anything fancy. On the contrary, it resembled a huge factory of beauty treatments that ranged from manicures, pedicures, to massages. They even had flesh eating fish pedicures! I got a gel manicure and a hair wash/blow out for around $33usd. The husbands got massages for $17/hr. Needless to say, if you’re in the area and want to get some fast beauty treatments done, then come here.
A few minutes from Toque X, we stumbled upon a farmers market where we found artisanal foods and goods. I ended up buying a cutesie cropped sweater here. The farmers market was close to parque Kennedy where we saw some lovely artwork for sale. We also stumbled upon a group of elderly people playing live music and dancing in this park, something that we aren’t used to seeing in the states. Warmed my heart right up! Sharing this clip below to hopefully warm your hearts up too:
After walking around and doing some shopping, we decided to meet up with some other flight attendants at a restaurant in Larcomar. The restaurant was ate at was called Tanta. We originally wanted to eat at Mangos, but they weren’t open Christmas Eve. Either way, the lomo saltado was very delicious!

The view of the water was also spectacular. After walking off our food belly babies, we ended the night and each went down for a little siesta before working the red eye back to Atlanta.
This trip ended up being one of my favorite ways to spend Christmas, especially since both of my sisters were out of the country and my mom was recovering from a surgery. Not only was it a cute little paid vacay, but also super special that I was able to share this with my husband. This was the first work trip he’s ever joined me on and probably won’t be the last. Working with a dear friend is also always a plus. Makes work not even feel like work. Especially when you’re playing flip cup (with water) in the galley to pass time. IYKYK.

PS here’s a little tik tok I made that sums up our entire layover. Feel free to show some love and follow 🫶🏼
